Kathleen Chen is an Associate General Counsel and Senior Associate Director of Legal Affairs for the Abramson Cancer Center, where she supports the Center’s clinical, scientific research and immunotherapy research collaborations.
Kathleen has over 15 years of legal experience in both litigation and corporate transactions. Kathleen joined Penn from Lowe & Associates, a boutique corporate law firm in Philadelphia where she represented public and private companies in a variety of transactional matters, including franchising, joint ventures, acquisitions and divestitures. Prior to that, Kathleen represented healthcare facilities and various government agencies in a variety of tort, contract and healthcare-related matters.
Kathleen attended the University of Pennsylvania for her undergraduate and master’s studies (B.A. Biology with a minor in Psychology, M.G.A.). She received her law degree from Temple University, Beasley School of Law, where she served as the Executive Editor for the Temple Political & Civil Rights Law Review and the Director of Outside Competitions for the Temple Moot Court Honor Society.
Kathleen is the President-Elect of the Asian-Pacific American Bar Association of Pennsylvania and Alternative Northeast Regional Governor for the National Asian American Bar Association (NAPABA) and former NAPABA Women’s Leadership Network co-chair. She was recognized by the National Association of Women Lawyers on the NAWL Rising List in 2022. She is admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey.
