Betty S. Adler is Senior Counsel for the University of Pennsylvania and Penn Medicine. Her practice focuses on hospital and healthcare operational and regulatory matters for Penn Medicine and the University of Pennsylvania Health System, including hospital licensing, contracting, corporate governance and related support activities, compliance with accreditation and regulatory requirements, medical staff matters, graduate medical education, as well as hospital policy and patient care matters. She has primary responsibility for the contract administration system for the University of Pennsylvania Health System.
Prior to joining Penn, Ms. Adler was in private practice with the New Jersey law firm of Archer & Greiner, P.C., practicing in general commercial litigation with an emphasis on health and hospital law, education law, insurance agency law, and libel.
Ms. Adler received her undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania (B.A., magna cum laude, 1980) and her law degree from Temple University School of Law (J.D., cum laude, 1983) where she was on the Temple Law Quarterly Law Review. Ms. Adler has published and spoken on various health law related matters including contracting, informed consent, advance directives and HIV testing issues. She is currently a member of the American Health Law Association and the Pennsylvania and Philadelphia Bar Associations and University Health System Consortium. Ms. Adler is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
